Wedding

The Big (four) Day(s).

On June 5 Rachel and I will fly to Washington. We will be joined by our parents, our brothers, her maid of honor, my best man and my friend Devin David, our photographer. The twelve of us will stay for four days in a large farm house sitting on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

On the fourth day, June 8, we will walk out into the yard and my father, a pastor, will marry us. We will have dinner back in the house, and then Rachel and I will begin our honeymoon.

Rachel and feel very blessed to have remarkably similar yet counter-cultural wedding desires. There’s a bunch of reasons we didn’t want to do a traditional wedding:

  • We tend to get stressed out when faced with lots of decisions.
  • We prefer small, intimate gatherings over big parties.
  • We don’t want to rank our friends to decide who gets invited to the wedding.
  • We don’t want to spend five-figures on a one-day event.

So far the wedding planning process has been moving along great.  About three weeks after engagement we had all the big things checked off.  We’ve managed to avoid a lot of the stress associated with wedding planning and can’t wait for June to arrive.

Love is…

Love is patient
Love is kind
It does not envy
It does not boast
It is not proud
It is not rude
It is not self-seeking
It is not easily angered
It keeps no record of wrongs
Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth
It always protects
Always trusts
Always hopes
Always perseveres
