The Ceremony

It was quite a pleasure to have my dad officiate our wedding. With his help, Rachel and I wrote our own ceremony and our vows:
From today forward
Until we are parted by death
No matter if we are
healthy or sick
rich or poor
jubilant or melancholy
I will love you
I will respect you
I will honor you
I will never leave you
and I [...]

The Cake

Rachel’s only regret of our wedding day seems to be that she was so full after eating the four courses Rene prepared for us (pics to come) that she only had a single slice of wedding cake.
Rene’s original idea was to make a chocolate cake called The Opera which features five layers of different types [...]

The Market

The twelve of us drove straight from the airport to Pike’s Place Market. Rachel and I got caught up at rental car counter so everyone else went on ahead. Before Rachel and I even made it to the market Rene sent me a text saying that he had “set a new high score at the [...]

Rachel and I got married

Oh, umm, hi there.
Boy, this is embarrasing. I kind of forgot to tell you guys… Rachel and I got married.
Two months ago.
I’ve been putting off posting because, well… it’s a bit overwhelming to try write a post about the biggest day of your life. So, I’m just going to post some pictures instead, and maybe [...]

Acts of Mass Consumerism

My friend Andy says that planning a wedding serves as a crucible to test the strength of a couple’s relationship. That is: if your relationship can survive planning a wedding, then your relationship is strong enough to get married.
Due to the type of wedding Rachel and I are having, we haven’t faced the typical pains [...]

Personal Brand Management

You probably didn’t notice, but a couple weeks ago I changed the name of this blog from “Greg and Rachel are Getting Married” to “Greg Baugues and Rachel Lazelle Are Getting Married”.
Small, unnecessarily formal change… right?
If you Googled me prior to the change, the top result would have been a cheesy interview I gave to [...]

Our Indianapolis Wedding Shower

My parents threw Rachel and I a wedding shower this weekend. The party was super low key, which was good because Rachel and I could barely walk after running the half.
The guests were mostly made up of four groups of people:
People from my dad’s current church, Good Shepherd UMC.
I was in college when my dad started [...]

Wedding certificate notarized, bank accounts merged

Pro-tip: If you need a notary, check your local bank (thanks to my Uncle Howard for the tip).
This morning Rachel and I killed two birds with one stone at Bank of America: notarize our wedding certificate and to add me to her checking and savings account.
It’s getting real now. 28 days to go.
